Last Saturday, Smart Location's top executives, including CTO Joseph So, COO Kevin Leong, Marketing Director Ada Chan, and Product Director Dr. Lam, converged at Douglas College to host two enlightening workshop for 60 Information Technology students. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills in leveraging IoT (Internet of Things), big data, and machine learning to address environmental challenges and foster sustainable practices.
Throughout the workshop, students delved into various key areas:
Understanding IoT Significance: Participants gained insights into the importance of IoT devices and explored their diverse applications across different sectors.
Practical Setup of IoT Modules: Students demonstrated proficiency in setting up IoT modules to gather environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels, thereby enhancing their practical skills.
Real-life Case Studies: By analyzing real-life case studies within the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) sector, students grasped the practical integration of big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning techniques in everyday scenarios.
Evaluation of Technological Impact: The workshop facilitated discussions on evaluating the impact of IoT technology and machine learning algorithms on shaping various aspects of our world, emphasizing the importance of technological advancements in driving positive change.
The workshop not only provided students with valuable insights but also empowered them to apply IoT, big data, and machine learning techniques to contribute towards creating a better environment for their communities. Smart Location expressed its commitment to further support Douglas College by providing additional technology solutions to assist in the establishment of a smart campus, leveraging Smart Location's advanced technologies.
With such initiatives, Smart Location aims to nurture future leaders in technology and innovation while fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship within educational institutions and beyond.
