We are excited to introduce Project GreenSmartLab, a collaborative research initiative led by the Smart Location R&D Team in partnership with Douglas College, committed to transforming indoor air quality (IAQ) standards for healthier, safer public spaces. This project aims to enhance societal well-being by examining the interplay between air quality, human comfort, and hygiene within various indoor environments, creating healthier spaces in schools, workplaces, healthcare facilities, and public institutions.
Using cutting-edge IoT devices and our AI-powered data analytics platform, GreenSmartLab collects real-time data on critical air quality parameters, including CO2 levels, humidity, temperature, and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). A unique aspect of this project is its integration with spatial intelligence: each sensor is georeferenced to specific indoor locations, allowing us to map air quality conditions in real-time across different areas within a building. This enables dynamic, location-based analysis of IAQ, so we can better understand how air quality varies between spaces like classrooms, offices, and high-traffic areas.
Our AI-powered platform uses machine learning to analyze spatial and environmental data, providing actionable forecasts and automated alerts in response to significant changes in IAQ. This level of spatial insight enables targeted interventions, ensuring that ventilation systems can be optimized for specific areas rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
In the next phase, the Smart Location ESG platform will leverage these spatial insights to improve IAQ through adaptive ventilation and localized sanitization strategies, focusing on areas that require the most attention. This project sets a new standard for intelligent indoor environment management, benefiting society by fostering safer, healthier, and more responsive spaces for all.
